Toyota eyes record output for 2nd straight year

Jiji Press NAGOYA (Jiji Press) — Toyota Motor Corp. expects its global vehicle production to hit a record high for the second straight year in 2018, informed sources said.

The Japanese automaker revised up its global production plan for this year, including output at Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd. units, to 10,594,000 units, up 1.2 percent from the previous year, the sources said.

The upward revision chiefly reflects strong demand in China, the world’s largest auto market.

In its initial plan released in December last year, Toyota projected its global vehicle production at 10,397,000 units, down 0.7 percent.Speech
